Ever since I fell in love with creating two-toned damask patterns, I've been expanding my collection with whimsical, elevated novelty motifs. I hand-painted the vertical grasscloth texture and all the antique patina. This has to be my most detailed damask I've painted yet. I couldn't resist seeing if I could capture the water's surface in just two values.
My favorite part was hiding little fish in the white spaces. Can you spot them all? As a kid, I loved those I Spy books and finding little hidden creatures in picture book illustrations. I want to evoke that sense of unexpected magic in my pattern designs.
